Cheltenham

So we are now home from Cheltenham after our first ever appearance in the National Finals. Unfortunately the result is not what we would have liked, but having listened to the recordings we can say we couldn’t have asked for anymore. We had an absolutely great weekend in Cheltenham and the whole proces of preparation, rehearsal and performance has been a fantastic journey for the Band, one which under the guidance of our inspiration MD Adam Taylor, we look forward to continuing onwards and upwards! Congratulations to our fellow NW Bands Brindle and Thornton Cleveleys

Finally a huge thanks to all our sponsors and supporters who have helped to make this all possible.

Thank you all for your good wishes.

Wedding Performance

On 27th May the band were delighted to provide the music for the wedding of the Euphonium section Michael and Lynsey. We played in the ceremony, which included special music written and arranged for the day followed by a performance in the beautiful Liverpool Town Hall. We welcomed some very special friends to help us out as some of the band where somewhat busy!

We had lots of great feedback with many people commenting on how magical and atmospheric the band made the day, adding that extra touch.

We have just performed in the Whit Friday Marches (which fell in a good place this year, with the Happy couple jetting off on Monday!) and will have more information to follow once all the results have been published.

North West Area Championships

2017 455Yesterday, on Sunday 26th February 2017, the band took part in it’s first ever major Brass Band contest, the North West Area.  Off draw 13, the band went on to play a superb performance of St. Andrew’s Variations by Alan Fernie and we are very pleased to announce that we came 2nd out of 17 bands in the Fourth Section!

We were very happy with our performance, and this was backed up not only by the adjudicators comments, but those who listened on which also included great write ups from websites such as 4barsrest, all4Brass and the British Bandsman’s Magazine; as well as other bandsmen who were listening on the day.

We are now putting plans together to enter the National Finals in Cheltenham later in the year, whilst our next outing will be our Rock of Ages concert at the Capstone Theatre on 13th May.

Please see our Events section to find out more information on how to get tickets whilst you still can!

Christmas at The Elephant

So, that’s our 2016 Christmas season off to a flying (or is that freezing!) start.

Saturday 26th November was the day the Christmas lights were switched on in Woolton Village and an ensemble from the Band were on hand to support The Elephant as they got into the Christmas Spirit with our musical tribute accompanied by fireworks and even a snow machine!

A great time was had by all as we entertained the crowds with a well chosen selection of Seasonal and other musical favourites.img_2079
